Turkey earthquake summary

Earthquakes are caused by the movement of tectonic plates in the Earth's crust.

Turkey is located in a very active seismic zone, where several tectonic plates meet, and therefore, experiences frequent earthquakes. The North Anatolian Fault, which runs through northern Turkey, is particularly active and has been responsible for many large earthquakes in the past.

In addition to tectonic plate movement, other factors such as volcanic activity, underground mining, and the extraction of underground fluids can also trigger earthquakes.
